This weekend, bravery won. The students and two staff members took a trip to St. George to climb Angel's Landing. If you've never heard of Angel's Landing, it is a world famous hike... a STEEP one. 1,500 vertical feet are gained in the journey to the summit. The Park Service has installed a chain guide for stability. Our students made their ways up the long walk to the edge of a desert world.
After the hike up, everyone enjoyed a night of campfire and collective dinner. On the way home, we stopped at hot springs and were able to soak in the minerals and the freedom of being off the grid for a moment.
There is something so liberating about being out in the world, experiencing the grandeur of the Utah landscape and ecosystem. One of our goals as a program is to find immersive experiences where students can discover what really brings them joy, fills them with wonder, and maybe a little adrenaline.
